Retired Sadness
Standing in the lobby
at the front desk
I heard a little old lady say
I was in a retirement home.

Morning Induced
Drinking my black coffee
I could see your dark
shimmering eyes.
Then, the steam
fogged up my spectacles
& you were gone.

Did You Wax Your Wings???
Let's make like Icarus
& fly to the sun.
& fly to the sun.
i really want to read the Odyssey.
& i love how you say
that the song
"Fly Me to the Moon"
makes you think of me.

Free Falling
Wind Resistant or just plain whimsical?
Tie a feather in my hair.
Maybe a few more.
Then some paint on my face.
Let's climb up a redwood
& send our cries over a distance

The Sea Scares Me
I had a bad dream the other night
where the ocean covers sections of the freeway on the coast.
That makes it so I can not
go to my two old towns to visit family
and friends; and I'm trapped
in my current town.
It was raining so hard that
the sea level rose to those certain sections.
This isn't the first time I've had this dream.
When I woke up I had to actually
think hard whether or not that's really happened before.
I really love the ocean
but the thought of that happening
is horrifying.

Just a Whimsy of Want
i want an i n d i a n h e a d d r e s s.
The kind you see on indian chieftains that have feathers going down each side of your head down your back. & then i would put warpaint on my face and dance around a fire in...
my backyard.

sounds so good
right now.
You could get a
fishing line made of spiders thread
and cast it into the sky to catch me before i turn into
a star at the end of the universe....
so hurry, cuz the universe... doesn't end.

If it weren't for you, Jupiter.
I recently heard a student give
a presentation on a paper that they wrote
on how perfectly placed planets are in our universe
so that Earth can exist.
For instance, J u p i t e r is placed in
the perfect position in our solar system
to block most incoming asteroids.
How amazing is it that the one planet
that currently has living lifeforms on it
is being kept safe by another planet
from positioning alone?
Another thing is how did we get to
be the perfect distance from the sun
to not get burned or to freeze?
Thank you Big Bang Theory :]

Detachable, Ms. Not
Looking at my reflection in a window
i thought, for a moment,
i could take off my nose
like a Mr. Potato Head toy

Reaching for Happiness
I have daffodils
on my kitchen table,
and they are wonderful.
[EDIT: now with buddha springing out of the center like it's his own field of them]

Shine So BRITE
Whatever happened to LITE-BRITES?
They were so fun when i was little.
They were like paint by number
but instead they were different c o l o r e d p e g s
that you push through the paper...
I could give such a better description than this, but
I do not quite feel like it right now.
I'll fix this up later.

How often do you really hear this word used?
I have actually only heard it in movies.

Now, the first two definitions sound horrid...
and think of how ravishing comes from ravish...
strange kind of compliment considering that,
but very sweet
